Downtown Ice is located in a spectacular setting -- the Circle of Palms between the Fairmont Hotel and San Jose Museum of Art. The South Bay’s largest seasonal outdoor skating rink, produced by the San Jose Downtown Association, is directly across Market Street from Plaza de Cesar Chavez.

Our goal is to take care of all customers and make this ice rink the best skating experience anywhere.

Downtown for the Holidays

Note:  On Thursday, Jan. 7, due to a private party, the rink will open at 6:30 p.m.

(skate sizes range from toddler 8 to men's 13)

Skate waivers:
All skaters need to sign a waiver, regardless of age. Skaters 17 years and under need parental consent DOWNLOAD WAIVERS

 

 

KidSkate
The KidSkate program goal is to have 2010 youth skate on Downtown Ice in the 2009-2010 season. This year all youth groups are eligible for enrollment in the program. Sponsorship levels have been adjusted to give everyone a chance to give the gift of Downtown Ice to children this holiday season.  Download the KidSkate document for more info or click here.

 

 


Non-Profit Discounts, Private Parties and Specials

Sponsorship Opportunities:
Contact Event Corporate Relations Manager Kristen Joy Collins at (408) 279-1775, ext. 322, for sponsorship, advertising and promotional opportunities, private parties, non-profit discounts, and information about corporate and KidSkate programs.

Downtown Ice Gift Certificates:
Give the gift of Downtown Ice this season. Gift Certificates are available for purchase at the rink during operational hours (408) 291-0525 or at the San Jose Downtown Association office (408) 279-1775.

Non-Profit Discounts:
Non-profit (501c3) discounts are available by pre-sale only at the San Jose Downtown Association office and are not sold at the rink. Download the Non-profit Request Form

Private Parties:
Holiday Skate Party (as available) contact Kristen Collins at (408) 279-1775 ext. 322. Private use of the rink for up to 200 guests, admission and skate rental is included. More Holiday Skate Party information

Group Sales:
A discounted rate is offered to groups between 20-100 skaters.  Contact the rink Operations Manager, sjdowntownice@aol.com, or call 279-1775, ext. 312  for more information.

Corporate Unlimited Skating Pass Package:
Price As Quoted. A personalized employee/client appreciation program that includes promotional benefits: dasher board, company logo and link on the SJDA event web page. Skate passes are valid the entire season with no limit on the number of times someone can skate.

Specials and Discounts:

  • $2 off one admission with valid VTA, Light rail or Bus pass (offer may not be used with any other discounts). Ride to the Paseo de San Antonio Station.
  • $2 off with Discover Downtown Card (limit two people)
  • Look for 2-for-1 ads in the El Observador and Silicon Valley Community Newspapers. One child skates free with one adult paid admission: (limit two kids and two adults per ad).
  • The Tech = $3 off with a Tech Museum ticket stub – Valid: Nov. 30 – Dec. 3; Dec. 7 – 10 and 14 - 17;  Jan. 4 – 6 and 11-14
  • San Jose Sharks = $10 admission when you show your ticket stub or season pass - Valid: Nov. 30 – Dec. 3; Dec. 7 – 10 and 14 - 17;  Jan. 4 – 6 and 11-14 (limit 4 people per stub/pass)

Take Highway 101 South
Exit Guadalupe Parkway (Highway 87)
Take San Carlos exit and turn left onto Park

Parking and Public Transportation

The Fairmont Plaza Garage provides the closest and most convenient parking to Downtown Ice.  Enter the Fairmont Plaza Garage just off West San Fernando Street between Market and First streets, next to the San Jose Museum of Art.  Take the elevator up from the parking garage to the lobby level, and exit into the Circle of Palms Plaza and Downtown Ice.  The Fairmont Plaza Garage is managed by Network Parking.  If you have more questions, call (408) 283-5068 or visit networkparking.com.

With more than 24,000 parking spaces in public and private parking facilities, it’s easy to find convenient and friendly parking. Several public lots and garages offer free parking from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekends, and parking starting at $3 after 6 p.m.  Do business with a merchant that has a "Pv" sign in front, and receive up to two hours of free parking with validation.

Parked far from the rink? Call Eco City Cycles at 408 771-7723 and they'll take you to the rink at a negotiated cost.  Each driver can accommodate 1, 2 or 3 people.  It's both an eco-friendly and economic way to get to Downtown Ice from within the downtown area.

Rink information:

  • Food or drink are not allowed on the rink
  • Tables outside the rink are available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Only paid admission (and guardians, if necessary) are allowed past the entrance
  • Strollers and wagons are not allowed past the entrance
  • Restrooms are located on the plaza
  • No lockers or secure storage on site. Please do not bring valuables to the rink
